Steiner Development was incorporated as an industrial development and general contracting business. The impetus for Steiner Development was Steiner & Koppelman, founded by Paul Steiner in 1946 as a residential development company in the Western suburbs of Minneapolis. Steiner & Koppelman expanded into commercial/industrial development in the 1970's.

For more then 50 years Steiner has maintained a commitment to excellence with its high-quality industrial buildings and business parks. Already established as an industrial development and acquisition business, in 2004 Steiner Development expanded its scope of experience into the retail real estate market with the same devotion to excellence. These services, along with its property management and leasing/brokerage services, evince Steiner's niche as full service commercial real estate company.

In addition, in 2003 Steiner Construction Services was formed to bring Steiner's expertise as a general contractor to a larger market. Steiner Construction Services provides architectural and general contracting service for commercial projects of any size.
